Microsoft HoloLens Development Kits Available Q1 2016 for $3,000
At today’s Windows 10 Devices event Microsoft announced that HoloLens development kits would be available during the first quarter of 2016. The HoloLens dev kits aren’t inexpensive and will cost you a whopping $3,000. While the $3,000 isn’t affordable to most, by the time of the HoloLens consumer release, manufacturing cost should decrease with costs. While we do not know the specific specs of the HoloLens development kits we do know that they will ship wirelessly and be fully untethered, able to be used without the need of any wires or remote connection. The HoloLens is a standalone device meaning it does not need to be connected to a PC, smartphone or any other device to function.
With the HoloLens development kits being release early next year, a consumer release date or price point may not be revealed for some time. No other modern device looks capable of rendering and preforming at the level of the HoloLens; developers looking to develop augmented reality applications should consider filling out a strong>HoloLens development kit application.
