Could GTA V Have a VR Mode? New FPS Mode Announced

GTA V will be released in two weeks for the PS4 and XB1. Today Rockstar announced that the game will contain a First Person Mode exclusive to the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game. This new mode will be an option for both the story mode as well as the online mode obviously named Grand Theft Auto Online.

In the new mode the game changes from a third person perspective to a First Person one. The characters can see their arms, legs, weapons and items all which seem to be given a huge graphical update. The FPS mode isn’t limited to just one character or any one vehicle, all vehicles and all characters seem to work fluidly in the new mode.

While a FPS mode was announced no word of a VR edition or VR mode was announced but judging by the trailer posted by Rockstar and considering the dedicated modding community of PC gamers, a VR mode may be in the works in the future. Whether its officially supported by Rockstar or not is another story.

Exclusive to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto V, this new mode gives players the chance to explore the world of Los Santos and Blaine County directly through the eyes of their character, revealing all the world’s glorious details in an entirely new way.

Available in both GTAV and GTA Online, we’ve made a host of changes to accommodate this new perspective, including the creation of an optional first person cover system, a new targeting system, a more traditional FPS control scheme, and integrating thousands of new animations into the existing game. It’s also available at the touch of a button so you can easily switch back and forth between perspectives.

Seriously cannot wait for this. I really hope they decide to do a native VR mode because using external software like VorpX just isn’t cutting it for me in most games I have tried. *fingers crossed*
