Winner of the Orange County Virtual Reality Hackathon #3.5, RetroGrind is a simple endless runner for the Oculus Rift. More of a tech demo than a game, you take the role of a rooftop skateboarder as he travels along and endless rooftop avoiding multiple obstacles. While there is replayability in trying to beat your own personal high score, RetroGrind has very limited controls allowing your character to only jump or double jump. When in game you feel as though you should be able to move left or right with makes the game a bit awkward to control. There are also issues with the game’s physics as well as some random clipping issues. That said RetroGrind is a neat little demo that shows how a more developed endless runner would function in VR.
