Matrix star Keanu Reeves is going back into the machine world. Along with director Roland Emmerich, Keanu Reeves will be co-producing a television called New Angeles. New Angeles deals with a virtual reality world of the same name. It involves a man bored with his life who stumbles into this VR world.
As Deadline first reported, the show will be distributed and produced by Slingshot Global Media, with Emmerich set to direct the pilot and executive produce the series while Reeves will serve as an executive producer. Emmerich is best known for his action films like The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day.
New Angeles will tell the story of a man who enters a virtual reality named, unsurprisingly, New Angeles, to escape his boring everyday life. There, he crafts a new identity for himself and begins to uncover his destiny and a mystery that has implications for him in both virtual reality and his real life.
Novelist and comic book writer Gregg Hurwitz who has worked on Batman and X-men will be both a writer and executive-produce for New Angeles.
