A DreadHalls DK2 compatible beta has been released and we decided to give it a run. Its still in development and the game has slight visual and sound issues but we couldn’t focus on that because of how scared we were. To say DreadHalls is scary is selling it very short. Dreadhalls psychologically messes with you in with clever use of sound, lighting and overall errierness.

Everytime you play Dreadhalls you are thrown into a randomly generated dungeon with the goal of making it out alive. The random dungeon aspect makes the game have great replayability and also helps the horror aspect. As you explore the dungeon, monsters and other entities begin to stalk and chase you. You can constantly hear them wandering through the dungeon making headphone a must if you plan to make it out alive. There are different monster types that follow their own specific A.I. to scare and chase you around the map.

While there can be some improvement such as different dungeon types, additional monsters and graphical fixes, Dreadhalls is shaping into the perfect VR horror game that everyone with an Oculus Rift should try out… That is, if you aren’t a chicken. *Bawk* *Bawk* *Begowwwwk*

Definitely not for those that are easily scared, Dreadhalls shows the potential that horror games have in VR in terms of presence and gameplay.
