Star Trek TNG Bridge and Ready Room in VR

Star Trek fan and VR programmer Enda O’Connor has recreated The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) Bridge and Ready Room is glorious VR. If you’re lucky enough to have a Oculus Rift handy, feel free to give it a download and experience it yourself. It’s still a work in progress and may have some lighting and framerate issues but looks very promising.

It will be updated later this week with a single screen version (for anyone without a VR headset) I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″][/tagline_box]

A great use of VR seems to be allowing users to visit their favorite fictional worlds such as Star Trek. We’ve seen something similar in Jerry’s Place for Oculus Rift where users can walk around a virtual Jerry Seinfeld apartment. It may only be a few more years before we can run around a virtual Springfield or Westeros
